Sustainable Land Initiative (SLI), Carbon Farm and Conservation Planning
In June 2025, Tranquillity RCD launched the Sustainable Land Initiative (SLI) As part of the TCC Plan of Action development and Bio-Circular Ag Economic Development Initiative. SLI is a collaboration among farmers, RCDs, universities, nonprofits and communities to rapidly accelerate the transition to sustainable practices on working and natural lands. This initiative has been led by the Upper Salinas-La Tablas Resource Conservation District (USLTRCD) in San Luis Obispo County and planning for the launch with Tranquillity RCD commenced earlier in 2025 for the district and ultimately the San Joaquin Valley region.
Using a data-driven approach and innovative software, RCDs can more effectively and efficiently assist landowners to identify, fund and implement climate-smart projects on their land. These practices can improve land productivity and achieve sustainability by sequestering carbon, reducing water consumption, restoring soil health and more.
